Standard Link Inc. (headquartered in Nihonbashi Koamicho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo; hereafter SLL) has entered into a strategic partnership with UK drone technology company Sky-Drones Technologies Ltd (headquartered in London; hereafter Sky-Drones).
This is a published announcement. Manufacturer adoption and operating records are distinguished from SLL's delivery and evaluation records.
SLL obtained exclusive distribution rights for the company's products in Japan.
SLL will begin by bringing Sky-Drones' VTOL platforms to the Japanese market.
In the future, SLL aims to integrate these platforms with its AI image analysis, color night vision and other sensor technologies, developing solutions suited to Japan, from island logistics and medical deliveries to defense and security.

Sky-Drones Technologies Ltd is a drone technology company founded in London, UK, in 2011.
The announcement describes it as one of the few full-stack UAS manufacturers developing aircraft, flight controllers, cloud fleet-management software and AI algorithms in-house, with demonstrated applications from logistics to defense.
In 2025, SkyLane-350 completed a fully autonomous BVLOS delivery demonstration for products from a major global fast-food chain. AI-assisted autonomous navigation enabled precise delivery, demonstrating the feasibility of fully uncrewed logistics operations.
Through the ALIAS project under the UK government's Innovate UK Future Flight Challenge Phase III, Sky-Drones is developing a high-speed drone transport network between Guernsey and Jersey.
BVLOS operations using 5G and satellite communications are being demonstrated for inter-island cargo and medical transport. The company was selected for three projects: RISE, ALIAS and BLUEPRINT.
SkyLane is designed for urgent medical deliveries including medicines, test reports and organs. Technology partner F-Drones uses Sky-Drones' LTE connectivity for zero-emission cargo deliveries to vessels and offshore oil rigs with all-electric VTOL aircraft.
SkyLane-350 VTOL was delivered to Honeywell Aerospace Technologies and is used as a core platform for flight testing and demonstrations of hydrogen fuel cells, satellite communications and navigation in GPS-denied environments.
The announcement quotes a Honeywell executive describing SkyLane-350 as the main aircraft for its testing and demonstration activities.
SkyLane is a VTOL fixed-wing uncrewed aircraft platform optimized for long-range BVLOS operations.
Its lightweight, rigid, all-carbon-fiber structure and autonomous flight capabilities centered on the AIRLink AI flight controller support applications from cargo delivery to ISR on one platform.

Alongside SkyLane fixed-wing VTOL aircraft, Sky-Drones offers X-Series carbon-fiber multicopters using the same AIRLink avionics and cloud ecosystem.
Designed for hover-based missions such as precision inspection and local surveillance, these aircraft allow fixed-wing and rotary-wing systems to share an operating platform for long- and short-range missions.

Japan is entering a new phase of real-world drone logistics. SLL believes Sky-Drones' long-range BVLOS VTOL platforms could play an important role in this market.
Japan has approximately 14,000 islands, according to the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan's 2023 announcement. Population decline and aging make it increasingly difficult to sustain reliable logistics solely through conventional land and sea transport in rural and island communities.
Regular drone delivery of medicines and daily necessities is beginning to enter everyday operation on Japanese islands, moving drone logistics from a convenience toward an essential service.
Tighter limits on drivers' overtime are affecting transport capacity. E-commerce continues to increase delivery demand while driver shortages persist. Drone last-mile delivery is attracting attention as one response to this structural challenge.
SkyLane-350's 500 km range and 7 kg payload are reference specifications for assessing inter-island deliveries.
Applying Sky-Drones' Guernsey–Jersey transport-network demonstration to Japanese islands requires confirmation of communications, payload, operations and regulatory conditions.
For the hybrid SkyLane-650H, the manufacturer's Hybrid v1.1 document specifies up to 14 hours without payload and 7 hours with a 45 kg payload under different conditions. Maximum payload and maximum endurance are not simultaneous values.
The current manufacturer web table also lists a different no-payload value. Document version and applicable conditions must be confirmed before adoption.
These aircraft support simultaneous fleet operations through centralized Sky-Drones Cloud management and UTM integration, providing a basis for regional logistics expansion.

Starting with exclusive distribution of Sky-Drones products in Japan, SLL aims to develop integrated solutions combining them with its advanced technologies.
SLL holds multiple patents related to AI image analysis, color night vision and multi-sensor fusion. It aims to combine these technology assets with Sky-Drones' VTOL platforms to create value in the following application areas.
AIRLink is open-architecture AI avionics supporting third-party AI integration.
SLL envisages implementing its patented AI image-analysis and color-night-vision technologies across onboard Edge AI (AIRLink) and cloud (Sky-Drones Cloud) layers.
The aim is to combine onboard real-time AI analysis in communications-constrained island, maritime and disaster settings with cloud analysis across the fleet.
Potential applications include medicines, daily necessities and emergency supplies for islands and rural areas; regular deliveries to remote clinics; urgent transport of specimens and blood products; and ship-to-shore cargo. Long-range BVLOS and autonomous flight offer an alternative logistics approach alongside ferries, road transport and helicopters.
Potential uses include long-distance inspection of power lines, pipelines, bridges and offshore wind facilities; crop monitoring over large areas; and monitoring forests, rivers and coasts. BVLOS and AI image analysis aim to improve the efficiency and safety of work traditionally dependent on personnel or helicopters.
Potential applications include extended ISR for island observation, maritime monitoring of territorial waters and exclusive economic zones, and critical infrastructure protection. Future integration with SLL's color-night-vision technology is intended to improve monitoring in night and low-light conditions.
Designed and manufactured in the UK, a Five Eyes member, SkyLane is presented in the announcement as aligned with Japan's direction of reducing dependence on drones from countries associated with security risks. SLL aims to build a secure supply chain through its Japanese distribution role.
